Summary
For years, there were things about the old lake house no one was allowed to talk about. Guests had stories. Family members had experiences. But the rule was simple: don’t scare the kids.
Her younger brother didn’t believe any of it anyway.
At sixteen, he was the confident skeptic — the football player who laughed off ghost stories. So when he was asked to spend a night alone in their grandparents’ 150-year-old house, he wasn’t concerned.
He locked the doors. Went to bed. Everything felt normal. Until just after midnight. A noise in the closet. Something scraping across the floor. Then the unmistakable feeling that he wasn’t alone. By the time he ran downstairs, logic wasn’t helping.
