Let's start off by talking about your 2013 through hike a little bit.

We're going to talk about the book The Habit of Squirrels,

but in 2013, you threw hike the A.T.

What inspired you to want to throw hike the A.T.?

It's a pretty good question. I have a brother-in-law

who hiked it in 2005.

It's about the only thing he ever

actually opens up and talks about. He's pretty quiet.

It was fun to get him excited and hear him talk about it.

Then I graduated college and I've taken a year off

and I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do with myself

and spring was coming up. The A.T. starts close to home.
