Hi, I'm Dave. I've been walking for fitness since 2013,

averaging just under 21,000 steps a day.

It is a beautiful morning in South Carolina, although the temperature is a little bit lower than average for this time of year.

But the sun is up. The sky is blue, and the winds are brisk, so you might hear a little bit of wind noise as we walk today.

A Facebook friend of mine has headed back to the gym. I think he's maybe two or three weeks in. And I'm not real familiar with his fitness journey, his fitness story, but I know based on his post that he

has gone to the gym before, he's pursued fitness before, and for whatever reason has stopped.

He's in his 50s.

He's posted two or three times on Facebook.

But I've intuited, perceived that what really matters to my friend

But in the moment, in those posts, what really matters is the satisfaction that he made a promise, made a commitment, and he kept it,

even though it's hard. It's hard getting out the door, it's hard getting to the gym.

It's hard doing the workout. But there's a satisfaction of, I said I was going to do this, and even though it was hard,
