How are walking and coffee linked together?

Welcome to Walking is Fitness.

This is a podcast of action, providing a little extra motivation to help you keep that fitness promise you made to yourself,

because really that's the hardest part of fitness. Hi, I'm Dave. I've been walking for

fitness since 2013 averaging just under 21,000 steps a day. I am walking right now and would love

to have you join me for the next 10 minutes or so. The temperature has dropped in South Carolina

and the winds have picked up so it is a cool morning as I'm walking and cloudy.

And I think there is a threat of rain as we get into the day.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be rain free for the next 10 minutes, although there have been a couple

of mornings where I checked the forecast before I left.

It's like, yep, don't need an umbrella.

And within seven minutes, I was getting wet.

I don't think that's going to be the case this morning.

One of the themes that I will be talking about from time to time,

and I hope you don't get too tired of it, is coffee.

I love coffee.

And I came to coffee a little bit later than most.

I was in my mid-40s when I started drinking coffee.

Even I used to go to Starbucks all the time.

And I was ordering the fancy coffee drinks, the macchiados.

Often I would get a hot chocolate, but would get one of those coffee drinks where

coffee is sort of present.
