This first story was submitted to us by one of our fans on the Facebook group at True Scary Stories with Edie. It is Victoria's story called The Farmer.

This story happened to me when I was just five years old.

My mom and dad had divorced and my dad was living in a small two-bedroom apartment.

He worked long shifts and just tried to make spending time with us as special as he could.

My sister and I loved going to see our dad.

But there were times when we would play by ourselves or with our neighbors while he napped, long shifts and all.

My sister was older, and we loved exploring.

The neighborhood kids, we'll call them Dean and Emily, were really cool and loved explorering just like us.

One day during one of our explorations, we decided to check out

this old barn behind our dad's apartment building. The barn was a dull gray, had broken wood

in some spots, and just all and all screened bad idea. We had been warned to stay away from

the barn due to its condition and disrepair.

We also heard rumors of the previous family that owned it.

They had claimed that an old farmer lived there, and when his farm got taken away, he hung himself in the barn.

Spooky.

Well, four adventure-loving kids simply couldn't resist, right?

All four of us slowly circled the barn, hiking through weeds and avoiding spiders and ticks.

Dean, the oldest one in our group, made a suggestion to go inside the barn.

His sister Emily protested at first, concerned with the structure of the barn and how dangerous

it was. But Dean, my sister and I were all for it. So we opened the barn's main door

crack and slipped in, not wanting to be caught by any of our parents or older folks.
