In 1867, Harriet Haskell arrived as the new principal of Monticello Female Seminary (present day LCCC). She would become the symbol of the college as she devoted her life to making it one of the most respected female institutions in the country. Her tenure at the college lasted for 40 years – but many believe that it’s never ended.
