Well, it was a service that was full of all kinds of things, a hodgepodge of liturgy and Bible readings.

And then that song, Imagine, which seemed odd for a Christian funeral.

What funeral hymns would have been far more appropriate and actually far more

gospel-centered than something of what is essentially the anthem of atheism? Welcome back to

issues, et cetera. I'm Todd Wilkin. Thanks for tuning us in. We're going to be talking about the funeral service of

former President Jimmy Carter. Pastor Hans Feeney joins us. He is pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

in St. Louis, creator of a series of comical videos called Lutheran satire. He's a contributor to the

Federalist and author of a recent column titled Eight Funeral Hems that would have been infinitely

better than Jimmy Carter's Imagine. Hans, welcome back. Good to be here. What were some of the

good elements at the state funeral for former president Jimmy Carter? Well, yeah, you had kind of typical

elements that you would expect to find in an ostensibly Christian service.

So you had scripture readings and some kind of more traditional hymns and things of that nature.
