Welcome back to the forging table. The mission of Undaunted Life is equipping men to push back

darkness with content that forges spiritual mental and physical resilience. At the forging table,

you'll see a group of regular guys forging spiritual resilience by digging into God's word

and we're welcoming all of you to come along on that journey with us. That's Derek. That's

Winkler. That's Horn. And today we're digging into Matthew 6. Derek, go and lead us off reading

verses one through four. You wear a practice in your righteousness before other people in order to

be seen by them, where then you will have no reward from your father who was in heaven.

Thus when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you as the hypocrites do and the synagogues

and in the streets. That they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received

their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand

is doing. So that you're giving maybe in secret and your father who sees in secret will reward you.

So who sees in secret? We will see that again here in the scripture. But my question that I

had here, and this was my initial thought, not that I'm trying to contradict scripture by any stretch,

is it is better to give humbly. But what about inspiring others? Now, there are people that they have

a PR team. So I think about athletes where you see these athletes. Let me back up even one more

step. There's a team that I won't name. So I don't throw anybody under the bus. But it's someone

I knew that worked for this team. And their players get paid to go and do visits to hospitals and

to children's shelters. And like they get paid to do that. Right. And the players were complaining

that they had to go to this children's hospital to hang out with kids that had cancer because they

had stuff they wanted to do. Right. And so that already made me mad. And then it was like wait, they

paid to do this. That kind of makes you mad too. But then you'll hear about these athletes that
