I'm Nate Silver and this is Model Talk. All right, this is our long-lost post-Georgia Model Talk

episode. As listeners well know, the real end of the 2020 election, those double-sendet runoffs in

Georgia, were eclipsed by the attack on the Capitol and we've been covering the fallout of that ever

since. So today, we're going to take the opportunity to look back on what happened in those two

elections. We'll also try to set some expectations for the electoral environment of the next two years.

That's in large part going to be dictating how lawmakers behave. And by the way, related to that,

we launched our approval rating tracker for President Biden today, which you can go check out on

the website, he begins at 54% approve, 35% disapprove. But Nate, before we get to any of that,

I have to ask you, did you manage to sell off all of your game stop stock before it crashed today?

You know, I should be like in the core fascination point for the story. I've been kind of not

paying as much attention as I should, but yeah, I did not get in on the game stop bubble.

We're not going to spend too much time on this, but what is your 90 second take on the takeaway

from the game stop debacle? I mean, LLL efficient market hypothesis. I don't know. My takeaways,

I want to PS5. I want to PS5 and I want to f***ing COVID vaccine, Damon. I've been waiting a long

time for both of those. If you could only have one, which one would it be? The f***ing vaccine. I mean,

come on. Yeah, I'm kidding, but you know, yeah. All right. So let's get to the matter at hand

as much fun as the game stop story has been. So in the end, Raphael Warnock beat Kelly leftler by

two points. John Assoff beat David Perdue by 1.2 points. This all seems like years ago at this point.

But from a nuts and bolts perspective, why did Warnock and Assoff win those two elections?
