0:09.0

Hey there, welcome to this edition of the Shalene Show, but it's a takeover show.

0:14.0

This is a takeover edition. I'm being kicked out of my own podcasting studio by Brett Johnson and Sierra Johnson, who are here by popular demand.

0:24.0

We did the Shalene Show live and they were both there. And apparently, y'all got in their ears and told them that they needed to take over the show and do their own episode together.

0:33.0

So without further ado, Brett and Sierra Johnson.

0:38.0

Okay, so here's the background on this.

0:42.0

We just came off the Shalene Show and Sierra was up in Beverly Hills and Sierra came over from school and a bunch of people in the audience kind of reached out to her.

0:51.0

And then they were also turning in like note cards that said that they really wish Brett and Sierra would do a podcast together and just talk about father, daughter, relationship.

1:00.0

They also love hearing me talk after the one I just did after the one you just did. Yeah, I'm on the rise.

1:05.0

The record-breaking podcast that Sierra O'Day did a few weeks back. But anyway, so we went out to dinner the other night.

1:12.0

Sierra and I went out to dinner and Los Angeles and as we were chomping on our beautiful steak for a half pound rib eye steak.

1:19.0

How many ounces was that? I don't know. It was big. So we ended up a whole plate whole wooden plate.

1:25.0

We threw it out to Instagram. It was like, hey, if we were to do a podcast together, like what are some questions?

1:31.0

And we got tons of like 200 questions that Sierra went through. And after going through most of the questions,

1:40.0

we felt like if we took this podcast and did this angle where like I would talk about five things, now we didn't compare notes either.

1:49.0

Five things that I intentionally did to see if she like noticed them. And she's going to do five things that she noticed that I did.

1:59.0

She's going to explain her like five things that really helped her to be confident, to be confident. Yeah.

2:04.0

And I'm going to just give you things that I intentionally did. Like it was one of those things where I read a book early on called Strong Fathers and Strong Daughters.

2:13.0

And so I took a lot of those principles and just applied them to my everyday life. So my first one is I purposely showed you a lot of affection all the way through.

2:26.0

Whether it was hugs or a secret little handshake. Right. So we had just little things. And it wasn't just affection when you know, like after a game like hey honey, come give me a hug or you know, it was before she went to school every night before.

2:46.0

Yeah. And whenever she went off to do a competition. So it was like you need to get that hug and that handshake before you even compete it and the thing.

2:54.0

And I just thought that was, you know, especially at that early age when when they're like 10 or 11 and things are kind of like we're noticing boys and how should they treat you and you know, you know, little squirrely teenage preteen boys are like, you know, gross and they like.
