Welcome to the Docket, presented by Defense Diaries.

I'm your host Bob Mata, and this is Episode 3 of our continuing series, making the case

for Avery's Innocence. So we're back. For Episode 3, I know it's been a minute, but it hasn't

been as long as it took between episodes 1 and 2. So listen, this is the way this is going to go.

As I started to dig into the police reports, as I started to dig into the trial transcripts,

I soon realized that there is simply no way that we are going to be able to just

skim through the evidence in this case and come to a conclusion as to whether or not Steven Avery

is innocent or guilty. It's just impossible. It's not how I operate. It's not how Alison operates.

It's not in our DNA. If you know anything about our podcast, we are deep divers. So needless to say,

this is gone from being potentially a five to six episode series to most likely 20 plus.

If you're not into deep dives, now's the time to bail. If you are, put your seat belts on,

because we are going to dig into this case. We are going to give you every piece of evidence.

We are going to go through every search. We cannot come to a conclusion on a case.

And I just want to be clear right now that at this point in time, I sit firmly on the fence

as I do with every case, because unless I've been able to look through the evidence myself

and come to my own conclusions, I just don't trust anybody else to do it. I just don't.

And that's no slight on anyone else. I have my own perception on things like all of us do.

And while I'll hear compelling arguments as to people's innocence or guilt based on other

series that I've heard, that's amazing. And it's great work, but that doesn't mean that it's my

opinion because I have to form my own opinion based on what I see and what I hear and what I read.
