My beautiful escape,

I love the area I live near.

It's a slice of nature most people take trips to spend a weekend at.

Ride up the road from my house is a small hill. It leads to a hiking trail.

I know this trail like the back of my hand. At the end of the trail is a lake. Each season

accentuates the beauty of the land near my house. My favorite time of the year is winter.

Everything is more quiet.

The lake is as still as a painting.

Yes, there's a lot of snow, but just like Elsa,

the cold never bothered me anyway.

Oh!

And even though it sounds crazy, I love to hike at night, especially when it's a full moon.

On these winter nights, it doesn't even feel dark. It's almost impossible to get lost.

But I had such a frightening experience there a few years ago.

My once beautiful escape is now a cautious visit. On a night

when the moon was so bright and full and it had just finished knowing I couldn't

help but hike. It was a little slippery going up the hill.

The trail was a little buried under the snow. As I reached the part of the trail that was covered in trees,

I realized being wintertime, the trees leafless branches

resemble bony hands reaching towards the heavens.
