Summary

Mamta Kafle Bhatt worked tirelessly to build a life in the United States. She was a dedicated nurse at UVA Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, Virginia, and a loving mother to her one-year-old daughter. From the outside, her life and marriage to Naresh Bhatt appeared stable and happy. However, close friends and coworkers began to notice troubling signs, including visible injuries and attempts by Mamta to separate from her husband and regain control of her finances and identification documents. When Mamta failed to show up for her nursing shift in early August 2024, her coworkers immediately raised the alarm. Despite her husband's claims that she had simply walked away to cool off after an argument, the reality of the situation soon became clear. As investigators searched their home, they uncovered a disturbing crime scene that contradicted Naresh's story, leading to his arrest for her murder. While her body has yet to be found, the overwhelming forensic evidence paints a grim picture of what happened to the devoted mother who was just days away from her US citizenship interview. Hey guys, and welcome to the Moms and Mysteries podcast. A true crime podcast featuring myself, Mandy, and my dear friend Melissa. Hi, Melissa.

Hi, Mandy. How are you? I am doing well. We are recording this on Easter weekend.

Yeah. And my kids are officially on break from school for the next week. So yeah, there's a lot

going on here. Yeah. After this, I am going to a

farmer's market. I have to drop my daughter out somewhere. I've never been. Isn't that crazy? Like, I don't think I have. I might not have been to like an official. I've never sought it out. How about that? I've never sought a farmers market. There is no way I believe that you have never been to a farmer's market, just like an outdoor produce

market. I don't think so. Maters and Taters was the closest thing that I did to that, and it was

mostly indoors. They did have a building. Wow. I don't think they did do anymore. I love this

for you. I'm very excited. Have you tried to buy strawberries lately? Aldi Publix? They're all terrible. And so I'm going to really, I'm going to really try. My family's into strawberries right now. And the second I buy good ones, you know what's going to happen. No one's going to eat them. Well, you know the freeze that we had, like ruined a lot of our crops and like. Yeah. You sound like a farmer, by the way. Remember that freeze we had back in?

1:46.0

Well, it hasn't really froze like that.

1:48.0

And for those who don't know, we actually had like a hard freeze in central Florida this year.

1:54.0

Yeah, where like the sustained temperatures overnight.

1:56.0

It was like freezing for more than like 12 hours.

1:59.0

And so a lot of plants that are native to Florida

and crops and things obviously are not built to be below freezing for 12 plus hours. And it does

not happen here very often. So even in my own yard, we have a lot of plants and stuff that really

suffered and some that made it out just fine through the freeze. But I know that's a big thing.

2:17.8

And I agree with you. The strawberries are no good right now. And but not only are they weird and like
