Summary

August 1, 2024 – Episode 18 β€” On this episode of The Depot Dive, Joe Clark and Ross McCorkle begin the show by talking about the last six days of training camp including some roster moves, injuries and more. We discuss Roman Wilson's injury and the WR2 competition so far. We also talk about Justin Fields getting a lot of extra work and whether or not he is gaining ground on Russell Wilson for the starting QB job. For the next topic we discuss the new kickoff rule and the first, second, and third-team return pairings at practice on Thursday. An NFL.com report indicated that Mike Tomlin had consulted with the EA Sports team to workshop the new kickoff rule, so we talk about that and more. For the third topic, we discuss the training camp fights that have been taking place and whether we like or dislike those. To wrap things up, we answer a listener question about the Steelers-Falcons game in Week 1. well I guess our last show was after the first

0:45.6

day of practice so today was the seventh practice there are six additional

0:49.7

practices to talk about obviously in this quick 30 minute show we won't get to everything but we'll try to hit most of the big things here

0:56.7

I wanted to start off talking about the injury that happened to Roman Wilson on the very first day of padded practice.

1:05.2

He got tackled, what was it, Anthony Everett that tackled him, kind of rolled on his ankle a little

1:10.9

bit.

1:11.9

He ended up getting carded off the field. That is kind of standard

1:15.2

practice. Pretty much no matter what the injury is just because of how St. Vincent College is

1:20.4

situated. The way back to the training room and the locker room and stuff is pretty far from the field so it's not at all

1:28.0

abnormal for a player to be carded off.

1:31.0

Obviously the concern here Roman, he had been doing pretty well at the practices

1:36.3

leading up to him getting injured.

1:38.3

And so, kind of sets him back, momentum-wise.

1:41.2

The latest report is that it's week to week per Mike Tomlin and he is wearing a walking boot so that's kind of the latest on Roman Wilson.
