The year is 1977, the year that gave us Star Wars, the Rumors album from Fleetwood Mac,

the mainstream rise of both punk rock and disco, which is weird, and the Amityville

horror, the book and later the film that would put Ed and Lorraine Warren in the national

spotlight. This was also the year when the events in the infield poltergeist case in England

shocked and amazed the British media, as well as

paranormal investigators on both sides of the Atlantic. In the second film in the Conjuring series,

we followed the warrants as they traveled to England to assist the Hodgson family, who are

The Hodgson family, mother Peggy, her two daughters, Janet and Margaret, and sons Johnny

and Billy, begin to experience the strange occurrences after Janet and Margaret play with a Ouija

board. Then Janet's sleepwalks and speaks with the entity of an angry elderly man

who seems attached to an old armchair that came with the house.

Eventually, after the media gets involved in the case,

Janet becomes seemingly possessed by the old man whose name is Bill Wilkins.

He'd lived and died in their house.

The Warrens became involved after they're asked to determine whether Janet's possession

is a hoax, although they're reluctant to do so, because Lorraine has recently had a vision

about Ed's death.

She's also, and we'll have it again in England, a vision of a demonic

nun, which Ed had recently dreamed about. While staying at the Hodgson House, Ed and Lorraine

consult with other paranormal investigators, including Morris Gross and Anita Gregory, who doubt
