My name's Brandon Galey and welcome to episode 138 of the blog millionaire.

0:35.3

In this episode, I'm going to be diving into the statistics on blog post length from the

0:41.7

recent orbit media blogger survey.

0:44.5

Let's start by looking at the average word count of all blog posts by bloggers in the survey.

0:51.5

Back in 2014, the average blog post word count was just a tad beyond 800 words.

0:59.8

Over the past five years, the average word count has steadily climbed. This year, the average

1:06.6

word count is 1,151 words per blog post.

1:48.2

correlation to the 2000 plus word post, getting the highest Google rankings, most social

1:55.4

shares, and most backlinks. Even with all of this data readily available to most bloggers,

2:04.5

only 8% of bloggers in the Orbit Media Study consistently wrote blog post with more than 2,000 words.

2:12.8

This was really shocking to me, but it also demonstrated how there is still a big opportunity out there for bloggers that do write 2000 Word Plus post.

2:24.8

If you can be part of this less than 10%, then your post will get the lion's share of first page Google rankings, social shares, and backlinks.

2:36.5

The orbit media study also asked the bloggers that wrote different blog post links

2:42.2

if they were getting big-time results from these blog posts.
