chapter 5 verse 11. In my very first full-time teaching job, I was placed at a fairly rough

school with an extremely tough class of

sixth graders. I grew to love those kids, but every day was an exercise in my patients,

classroom management, crisis management, and attitude. I moved to a new school the following year,

and the kids in my new classes were a dream.

I was responsible for two classes, each of which spent half their day with me and half their day with a different teacher.

After the first week of school, my co-teacher, who taught the same kids as I taught, sat down with me to debrief.

I sat there shocked as he went on and on about how rough these kids were. He had been teaching at that same school for 10 years and said it was

the worst group of kids he had ever had. At that moment, I realized that so much of our experience here on earth is about contrast and

comparison. Now, Adam and Eve also learned this lesson very early on. Eve teaches us in Moses

5 verse 11. Were it not for our transgression, we never should have had seed and never should have

known good and evil and the joy of our

redemption and the eternal life which God giveth unto all the obedient.

We need both. We need the rough times so that we can find joy in the happy times.
