What's up everyone? Welcome back to the podcast. Today we're talking about technology? Yeah, we are we're talking about plant identification apps. This is something that I've only recently messed around with a little bit.

0:14.2

To be honest, I'm such a technological person, but I haven't really delved into the apps that

0:18.7

much for plants.

0:20.3

So if you have anything you'd like to recommend, definitely let know but I'm going to cover a couple of these plant recognition apps that are out there these days

0:28.4

So first one's going to be called Plantifier. It's a free app. It is crowd sourced and when you upload a photo to it the users of the My

0:36.8

Garden.org community will try to recognize the photo as soon as possible. So certainly give that a try.

0:44.9

The next one is called Leaf Snap.

0:48.0

So this one uses visual recognition software

0:51.2

to help identify tree species just by photographing their

currently includes trees of the Northeastern United States in Canada and it's going to include trees of the entire

1:05.0

continental United States pretty soon. It is iOS only right now. Next one, flower

1:10.8

checker. It is a paid plant identification service.

1:14.1

So you have to take a picture of an unknown plant

1:16.8

or moss or lichen or even a fungi.

1:19.1

And then you can get it identified by the international team

1:22.1

of experts that they have.

1:24.0

So the team's going to respond as soon as possible,

1:26.0

but identification usually takes several minutes or hours,

1:29.0

and they claim they can identify more than 90% of plants.

1:32.0

So I don't know, give that a try if you... they can identify more than 90% of plants.

1:32.6

So I don't know, give that a try if you are looking for some expert help.
