In 1999, the movie The Best Man came out.

Notable for its star-studded, all-black cast, it was produced on a relatively small budget of $9 million, and then went on to be a success, making over $34 million by the end of its theatrical run.

It's a who's who of gorgeous, famous, black actors

toward the beginning of their careers,

and in this movie, they're playing a group of friends from college

reunited for their friend Lance's wedding,

to the perfect Mia.

Harper, our main character and The Best Man, played by Diggs, is on the brink of becoming a successful novelist. His debut has been selected by Oprah.

He lives with his lovely girlfriend Robin, played by Lathen, in Chicago.

They're happy and in love, but it's clear early on that Robin wants more.

I mean, you said yourself that I was the best girlfriend you ever had.

You've never been with somebody this long.

I had this much fun.

Face it, we fit together.

Yeah, but...

Of course I do.

But it's not that simple.

They're both going to the wedding, but Harper heads to New York early to engage in best man activities.
