In 2011, a poster was everywhere.

It kind of looked like a Sex in the City poster, white women standing in sexy dresses at model angles.

But it was a little off.

Instead of four women, there were six.

And somehow, it was just a little sillier.

The movie was bridesmaids, and I don't think that the allusions to sex in the city

stopped with the poster.

The visual language is the same.

We get wide, sweeping shots of an urban life.

It's just that they aren't of Madison Avenue, but of Milwaukee's beautiful aquarium and

view of Lake Michigan.

We meet two best friends, not at a yoga class in the West Village, but doing sit-ups

near a boot camp class in a park because they can't afford the 15 bucks to attend the actual class.

The movie is telling us that the women in the middle of America have love lives, friendship concerns, career problems, fashion choices, and sex lives too, and hijinks.

We meet Annie first, a hot blonde played by Kristen Whig.

But instead of delicious sex, she is grimacing as she endures pleasureless humiliations at the hands of hunky John Hamm.

Their sexcapade ends with him basically kicking her out.

Wow, this is so awkward, I really want you to leave, but I don't know how to say it without sounding like a dick.

Oh.

And when she realizes that she doesn't know how to get past the gate, she definitely isn't going back to the door to ask him.

So she scales the fence.

While she is spread eagled over it is when it opens and she waves at a houseworker of some sort.
