John Ray, who represents the family of Shannan Gilbert, whose disappearance led to the discovery of 10 sets of remains, said the “new and important evidence” regarding Heuermann’s family was recently uncovered. Heuermann’s estranged wife, Asa Ellerup, filed for divorce in July 2023 after he was charged, but has still shown up at several of his hearings. News of the evidence comes exactly a week after Heuermann, 60, was arraigned on murder charges in the 2003 dismemberment death of Jessica Taylor, 20, and the 1993 death of Sandra Costilla, 28. Ellerup and the couple’s two children were out of state at the time of the hearing, according to their attorney, Robert Macedonio, but were expected to be back this week. The Manhattan architect has already been charged with the 2009 and 2010 murders of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Lynn Costello and Maureen Brainard-Barnes — known as the “Gilgo Four.” He pleaded not guilty. Last month, Gilgo Beach Task Force investigators completed a second search of Heuermann’s home in Massapequa Park and a search of an area of Manorville.

1:05.9	represents the people's state of New York
1:09.0	and the prosecution against defendant Rex Ewerman.
1:15.5	And he also represents, of course, the people of Suffolk County, the people of Long Island,
1:20.4	and all of the victims and the victims family in his attempt to get justice for the victims of recuemen and who of course we all know as per
1:33.3	our system is innocent until proven guilty they say every time they have a press conference these
1:38.9	are just allegations with lots of evidence and on this thumbnail to district attorney Ray Tierney to the left is human defense attorney Michael Brown,
1:51.7	who guys apparently is an outstanding attorney, was a former Suffolk County District Attorney,
1:57.5	has his work cut out from.
1:58.7	And just below Attorney Michael Brown is Robert Macedonio,
2:05.3	the wife of Rex Ullman, Asa Ellorup, her attorney.
2:09.8	And we'll go into a little bit later on why Asa Elrop needs an attorney.
2:15.3	And right to the right of Robert Macedonia on this thumbnail is John Ray, who is the attorney for Shannon Gilbert's family and has been around this case, probably the longest of anyone on this thumbnail.
