Hi, my name is John Kim and I'm a therapist who went through his own

0:06.7

rebirth. I share my feelings and revelations. I believe in casual or

0:11.0

clinical and with you instead of at you I come unrehearsed on

0:15.9

purpose because self-help doesn't have to be so complicated. Lots of people

0:21.6

asking me what to look for in a life coach or a therapist.

0:25.0

I don't really, I know they're different obviously, but when it comes to what to look for I think they're the same and these are three things

0:37.0

that I think you should look for in a good therapist or a good life coach, any kind of coach, relationship coach. I would even say like a

0:46.9

fitness coach too as well. Okay. And they may be a little bit abstract on purpose because I want to just tell you the obvious right so

1:57.1

especially with coaching and being a therapist that it's not just about what they know, it's about who they are.

2:06.0

And so here are my three things that you should look for in a coach or a therapist. Okay. Number one is they have to believe that you can change.

2:20.0

And I know it sounds really kind of obvious, but you know what? A lot of coaches and therapists,

2:27.0

they're just doing sessions and I don't know if they genuinely believe that you can change.

2:34.6

You may feel hopeless about your story, but your coach or your therapist cannot, if so, he or

2:40.6

she has a ceiling, right?

2:43.1

Then the sessions just kind of turn into going through the motions,

2:47.4

not them truly believing that you can change.
