This year, it's all about Lucky 13. Howdy. I'm Jeff Goldsmith, the publisher of Backstory

Magazine and the host of the Q&A. Each week, I plan to bring you in-depth insights into the

creative process of storytelling. Folks, I say Lucky 13 because I didn't even know if we would be

able to have this event this year. This is the 13th annual screenwriting nominees Q&A,

where we get as many Oscar writing nominees together in one session as possible,

let them interact with each other,

and find their unique stories that led them down the path

to writing these memorable screenplays. And the truly good

news was we were able to pull it together because the writers wanted to make it happen. And so did

all the great publicists that we were working with as well. And I am pleased to welcome you to the

13th annual screenwriting nominees Q&A. Now, this is our first time doing it on Zoom. So,

you know, we're we're putting this up in the Backstory Magazine YouTube page, which is,

which is actually a fun place to watch these things. And of course, it's still going where it's

always gone, which is into the Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith podcast and iTunes and Spotify. That

way now everybody knows about each other. But, you know, the one missing ingredient here is that

for 11 out of the 13 years that we've done this event, we've done it at the Los Angeles

Film School. And I really miss all my friends over at the LA Film School. They have an absolutely

beautiful theater. They have cool programming year round for their students. And some of it is even

open to the public. And I know that they've put some of it online. So you should make sure to
