Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Keto and Interminute Fasting Podcast, where Dr. Berg takes you on the journey, what would you pick? I'm talking about an

0:29.3

ingredient that's in a lot of foods, not some band dangerous chemical, but some ingredient that is

0:35.7

very pervasive in our foods, what would you pick?

0:40.9

Go ahead and type it down in the common section.

0:42.8

The ingredient that I'm going to talk about is much, much higher on the glycemic index than glucose.

0:49.9

Now, what is the glycemic index?

0:51.2

It is a scale that measures how fast a carbohydrate is absorbed

0:58.0

and spikes your blood sugar. So at 100, you have glucose. So that's pretty high, right?

1:06.6

Now, glucose is a monosaccharide, okay? It's just one sugar.

1:11.7

When you combine two different sugars,

1:13.5

like glucose and fructose, you get sucrose.

1:17.2

That's table sugar, okay?

1:19.0

And because fructose is lower on the glycemic index,

1:22.6

it's gonna pull the glycemic index down a bit

1:26.6

to roughly about 72. That's a d dye saccharide. Now, saccharide

1:30.3

means sugar and dye means two. And then glucose is a monosaccharide, it's just one sugar. So the reason

1:36.5

where I'm talking about the diaccharide or the monosaccharide is because this ingredient is a

1:41.7

polysaccharide, which means many different sugars that are combined.

1:46.4

However, this polysaccharide is a lot worse than glucose, even though it's a polysaccharide.

1:53.8

So it is the ingredient that is the highest on the glycemic index.

1:58.0

I don't know of any other ingredient that's higher than this thing I'm

2:01.9

to tell you. And that ingredient is multodextrin. Okay, now multodextrin doesn't sound that bad,
