Hey everybody. Welcome to the All Things Fishing Podcast. A podcast for each week I talk about just that.

0:15.5

This is All Things Fishing. Hey everybody, I'm excited to be recording the 13th episode of the All Things Fishing podcast this week. This week, I'm going to be recording the 13th episode of the All Things Fishing podcast this week.

0:24.2

This week, I'm continuing and finishing the three-part series I'm doing called Terminal

0:28.3

Tackle.

0:29.0

So like I said, last week and the week before, terminal tackle for me includes sinkers, hooks, and swivels.

0:35.7

So, sinkers, I think you should always use them, hooks, kind of obvious

0:42.4

you need hooks to fish and swivels, and I'm going to be talking about those today. Like I said,

0:47.4

a few weeks ago too, this category technically does include leaders. I don't know a whole lot about

0:52.7

leaders. I don't use them a lot. All I know is that they're very useful for many situations. Like if you're fishing in clear water,

0:59.0

um, if you're fishing in clear water and you're using braided line, the fish can see that line.

1:04.0

So you might want to tie a clear line like monofiline or fluorocarbon to the end. So the fish can't see it as well.

1:10.0

I fish in super murky water I can't

1:13.0

I can't like I can't see anything I can't see anything in the water I'm not sure if the fish can

1:17.3

either so I don't really worry about the fishing the braid the 20 pound braid that I use so like I said

1:22.7

this week's episode is about swivels so really unless you use a snap swivele swivels are

1:27.4

really just a convenient way to tie your leader to your main line, unless, like I said, you use a snap. So the snap swivel is, what a snap swivel is, it's basically this little piece of metal that attach it, that goes on to the end of your, to one of those, to one of the rings of your barrel swivel. Um, so a barrel swivel has two rings. One of them you tie to your line and if, and the other you tie your leader onto, or, um, or that other end has a snap on it, in which case you just hook on your lure.

1:57.0

So what is, so what a snap is, is it's this like, um, it looks like a safety pin. If you've ever seen a safety pin, it looks like a safety pin. The end isn't sharp, it's a bit pointy, but it's not very sharp like a safety pen is. But it is very useful. Until recently, I haven't found any reason to not use them. the only reason you want to use them if you're if you have a good quality one the only reason you

2:01.8

wouldn't want them if you're,

2:18.3

if you have a good quality one, the only reason you wouldn't want to use it is if you're

2:21.9

fishing for like giant shark because the shark will pull that swivel instantly.

2:27.6

So like I said, I haven't found much reason to not use a snap swivel up until recently

2:34.0

because they're super super super easy to use
