Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Ted Smith, the Charles Howard, Candler Professor of Divinity,

an associate dean of faculty at Emory's

Candler School of Theology. He also serves as director of Theological Education Between

the Times, a project that gathers diverse groups of people to think together about the

meanings and purposes of theological education. He is the editor of the companion series, Theological

Education Between the

the Times, published by our friends at Erdman's, which includes books like After Whiteness

by Willie James Jennings, Renewing the Church by the Spirit by Amos Young, Notes of a Native

Daughter by Carrie Day, and the book will be discussing today. He is on the editorial boards

of various journals and is ordained to ministry in the Presbyterian Church, USA.

Ted works at the intersections of practical and political theology and is the author of three books,

We're John Brown by Stanford and The New Measures, Cambridge,

and today we'll be talking about his newest book out this year,

published in Erdman's Theological Education

between the Times series called The End of Theological Education. Yes, I know, an ominous title,

if there ever was one. When I saw this book, I knew I had to read it, and I'm so glad I did. Welcome,
