Welcome back to OnScript. This is Matthew Bates,

your co-host for today. In Mark 4, Jesus and his disciples embark on a boat. But Mark reports that a furious squall came up. Waves were breaking over the boat, nearly swamps the boat, and Jesus,

meanwhile, is sleeping in the stern. The disciples wake him up, distressed. Teacher, don't you care

if we drown? But Jesus gets up, rebukes the wind and the waves. Quiet, be still. Then the wind

dies down, is completely calm, and the disciples are just at a loss.

They're terrified, and they ask each other, who is this? Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him.

The disciples wonder, who is this? That's a question that's echoed again and again in the

Gospels. Arguably the question, who is Jesus, has shaped Western civilization beyond any other.

It's a question that we should, indeed that we must keep on asking. At least that's the conviction

held by me, and I believe by my two guests
