You know, it was a couple episodes ago.

We were talking about this UK variant, which I think is a good place to start because you kind of have to understand what's going on with that to get the context. Like why people think this is so especially urgent. It's, I think it's kind of, yeah, it's the UK variant. And then it's also something that we've talked a lot about, which is the completely shitty rollout of these vaccines, which is like, you know. And these are objectively true things that are going on.

But it's more about like how they're framed, how they're being leveraged, what the actual

substance of what's going on is versus how that's being used to argue for some pretty

scientifically unsound and rash decisions. I don't think it's like

an exaggeration to say that that people are, I think, clearly panicking and making some really bad

judgment calls about priorities and making, basing those on assumptions that things will just hopefully magically work out like

it's some big yeah movie plot that will all be resolved in 90 minutes somehow so you have to take

the brave option of i don't know doing natural experiments in the human population that's a good point

because it's but i feel like all of this discourse um which i guess you know again we'll get more specific about but i think we're specific about That's a good point because I feel like all of this discourse, which I guess, you know, again, we'll get more specific about, but I think we're specifically talking about the, there's kind of a couple of things.

There's just to get sort of the easy one that, like, I think people got really upset about, and we will talk about, but is sort of less alarmist than the headlines

would show is the very weird decision by the UK to, in certain cases, if the first

vaccine brand that someone getting their second dose got is unknown in certain cases,

they will just say, like, okay okay we'll give them the other one

which is very weird there's the um before i get even to the just one dose people there's like the

the people who are now hedging all of their hopes on well instead of reserving vaccines for a second

dose we should absolutely be rolling them out as they become available, even if that potentially

means that some people don't get their second dose until months delayed.

Which is something that actually accidentally occurred in the AstraZeneca trial.

Right.

But that's like at best a minuscule handful of patients. And this was not intentional. And all that data shows us is that

we didn't fuck anything up necessarily, but we really are not going to know the long-term effects

...
