| 0:00.0 | Hello everyone and welcome to the Girls Camp Podcast Patreon, Girls Camp Unplugged. |
| 0:05.9 | I'm your host, Haley Rawl. |
| 0:08.0 | And in case you have not yet heard the news, as of yesterday, Saturday, December 27th, |
| 0:14.3 | which is actually when I'm recording this, one of the most senior apostles, well, the senior apostle, Jeffrey R. Holland, died. He was 85 years old, |
| 0:26.2 | and he died due to complications from kidney disease. He was the senior apostle in the quorum of the 12 |
| 0:33.9 | apostles, and he was also next in line due to seniority to become the prophet. |
| 0:40.4 | So this was a pretty big new story in the religious world because of what a high-up figure |
| 0:47.0 | Jeffr-R. Holland was in the Mormon church. Obviously, this death is incredibly fresh, and I will do my best to be fair and respectful in how I talk about this person. And I'm also going to be honest. Just sticking to the facts of what he said and what he did and the impact that he had on the church and also on many of us personally. |
| 1:12.2 | This death felt even different to me than the death of the former prophet, |
| 1:16.8 | Russell M. Nelson, which happened fairly recently because Jeffrey R. |
| 1:21.2 | Holland was one of my favorite apostles growing up. |
| 1:25.4 | And not only that, but when he died and I found out this news, |
| 1:29.1 | I had very specific things that he said that I remembered that really have stuck with me |
| 1:35.9 | that popped into my head that we're going to be talking about and unpacking. |
| 1:40.5 | And I know when things like this happen for the ex-Morman community, for those of us who actually |
| 1:46.0 | had some sort of connection to this person, the feelings can be all across the board. |
| 1:50.7 | Sadness, confusion, numbness. I feel like I feel more of a numbness to it. Or old feelings of |
| 1:57.4 | hurt based on things that this person has said might pop back up. So however you're |
| 2:02.8 | feeling I think is valid. And like I said, I'm going to do my best to just do a deep dive into |
| 2:09.5 | the life and legacy of Jeffrey R. Holland. I think the reason that Jeffrey R. Holland made |
| 2:16.3 | such an impact on me personally. And I grew up saying he was my favorite apostle, as did pretty much everyone. I feel like he was a favorite apostle. It was the kind of thing where when Jeffrey R. Holland was speaking at general conference, it was like, Elder Holland is talking, you know, everyone come in here |
| 2:35.3 | and listen because you always thought you were going to get something at least very interesting |
