Consumers and companies are waking up to some uncertainty today, after a federal court blocked

most of President Donald Trump's tariffs.

The three-judge panel said Trump doesn't have the authority to bypass Congress and introduce

the duties, because the emergency law he's using doesn't say anything about tariffs.

CNN's Mark Stewart explains where things stand after the decision.

Right now, a 30% tariff on Chinese products has been halted.

The 25% of tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada halted.

A 10% tariff on most goods coming into the United States.

Halted.

What remains, though, is a 25% tariff on automobiles, steel and aluminum.

That's of great interest to Europe, as well as many countries here in Asia,

which are very heavily automotive focus. So those are still in place.

The administration immediately appealed the decision, so it's still too early to really predict
