Hello from CNN. I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Wednesday, May 14th.

The huge 90-day rollback on tariffs between the US and China is now in place.

Both countries agreed to lower duties on the others' goods by 115 percentage points,

following marathon talks in Geneva over the weekend.

But the tariffs that remain are still poised to derail

the shopping habits of millions of Americans. I asked CNN's Christy Lou Stout why that is.

Joe, starting Wednesday for the next three months, the U.S. will lower tariffs on some Chinese

goods from 145% to 30%, and China will lower tariffs on U.S. goods from 125% to 10%.

Now, U.S. tariff rates on small packages from China, known as de minimis, will also be cut to as low as 30%.

Look, it's a sharp drop, but it is still crippling for many businesses and consumers.

Experts say Americans can expect longer wait times and higher prices.
