We are currently exploring normalizing relations with Syria's new government.

President Donald Trump met with Syria's leader Ahmad al-Shara today

after he announced plans to lift U.S. sanctions on the country.

The meeting happened as part of Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia,

where Saudi Crown Prince

Muhammad bin Salman was also involved in the talks.

CNN's Paula Hancox has more on Trump's trip to the Middle East.

Well, Joe, President Trump has now landed in Doha for the second leg of his golf trip,

which will be watched very closely as he deals with criticism over a possible plan to accept a multi-million

dollar jet from the Qatari royal family to replace Air Force One. The headline from Saudi Arabia,

though, was Trump meeting the Syrian president, once a member of al-Qaeda. Remarkable pictures of a meeting

that one senior Saudi source tells us was, quote, positive on all levels.

Trump is now exploring normalization of relations with Syria.

Airlines will meet with the FAA today to address the delays at Newark Liberty International Airport.

For weeks, the airport has been plagued by air traffic control staffing shortages and equipment issues.

And according to the meeting notice, each airline will be asked to offer to reduce their number of flights or change flight schedules.
