In Matthew 1034 through 36 from the Bible, Jesus says, do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth.

I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, and a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.

According to many religious-based websites and articles, this Bible verse is

conveying that Jesus was sent to earth to encourage people to follow God, and that in order to do so

properly, they might have to turn their backs on their loved ones, the ones who don't believe

anyway. However, religions rooted in Christianity also insist that Jesus was a peaceful person sent to

earth to show us how much God loves us

and to spread the word of God. How is it that the same person who literally says in this Bible verse

that he was not sent to earth to bring peace can also be revered as a universal symbol of peace and love?

How can someone who encouraged the abandonment of familial relationships in order to focus on God

also be credited with teaching us all to love thy neighbor? Was Jesus actually a being encouraged the abandonment of familial relationships in order to focus on God,

Was Jesus actually a beacon of peace and love? Or was he sent here to punish those who chose not to believe the things that God, or he claimed that God,

wanted us to follow and he was sent to teach us?
