This is Tales to Terrify. Good evening, children of the night, and welcome to the first episode of 2024.

I hope your holiday season was chalk full of chills. To be honest, it's kind of nice

to settle back into the peace and solitude in the wake of the holiday chaos. We've got a couple of

things brewing this year, but the first, that shadow that's looming just over the horizon, well, that's the imminent

approach of our newest flash fiction contest. Just a little glimpse to wet your whistle,

but I'll have more details about that headed your way in the coming weeks to help get those

creative juices flowing.

For tonight, though, we've got some vital fluids of our own to spell, so let's get to it.

Our first story for the evening comes from Catherine Trailer.

Catherine Trailer is a U.S.-born writer of fantasy and horror currently based in Prague.

Her writing, which is often fairy tale inspired, has been published in a number of anthologies.

She shares a home with her beautiful partner and three four-footed children.
