Let's wrap things up here on the Bi-week Blitz with Coach Samantha Rick.

It's Mississippi State softball.

And Coach, the theme of the spring is going to be bouncing

back between you and the baseball program. You know for your team and you look at

last season to this season what's the biggest area where you've got to turn things

around I think just the overall consistency you know that's been a big message

I think just from the top down I think leadership accountability just all of it so that you know we're not in that position that we were again like last season you know not ending the way we liked and I think we still have a lot of players left on the roster from two years ago from our super regional run and it's just if anything I thought it really fueled the fire for everybody returning because they know where this program's headed and what it can be and

then for us to finish and have the disappointing end last year.

They've all been just, I think another level of just disappointment and resolved to get back after it this year and I

think it really honestly has brought the team closer together and it's brought out a lot of

good leadership qualities so far this fall for us.

I want to ask you a couple of big picture questions about the sport of softball.

You know with baseball right now there is so much focus on analytics you know it feels

like the old days of batting average and home runs nobody looks at those in anymore are

their softball analytics start do you guys have as much focus on analytics as they do

over on the other side of the diamond?

No I mean I do think it's growing a lot just the use of technology and analytics

and softball just like baseball because, you know, we are such a comparable sport, especially

from the defensive and the hitting side. You know, pitching metrics are going to be a little bit different in terms of comparison with baseball, but, you know, the advanced metrics is huge. I think when it comes to scouting to preparing and I think you need to have some sort of the
