We're talking to as many coaches that will get on the phone with me this week.

Coach Chris Limonis joins us, Mississippi State Baseball.

Coach, I don't have to be the one that tells you that last season was not what you wanted it to be.

You were hoping for a bounce back.

It didn't occur. I know in the moment of the season you wanted it to be. You were hoping for a bounce back. It didn't occur.

I know in the moment of the season,

you struggle to find answers at times

for why your team wasn't playing the way you thought they could.

Now that you've gotten out of that season,

now that you've had a time to think about it, to look back,

why do you think it went wrong for you last year?

I may not still have the answer, but I do, you know, one, I think we went into last year.

And I like our talent that we had, but we were young.

And, you know, we have a handful of injuries that first week or two, and I just don't think we ever responded back.

You know, we had a little stretch in the middle where we got going, and we had, you know,

lost an arm or two, and we just, you know, didn't respond.

And, you know, from just X's and O's, it's probably the first year here that we didn't play

great defense.

And, you know, in this day and age of the, you know, baseball, you make a mistake or give up a freebie. The next thing you know, you're looking at a big inning, and we looked at too many of them last year. And then we just didn't, we didn't command on the mounds. I mean, I just think that's the biggest piece. And, you know, I like our pitchers. You know, some of the guys who didn't have success last year, I think have a chance to have a lot of success this year just from a year of experience. And experience in this league is huge. So we've watched some of our guys have a really good fall on the mound. And, you know, you've got to throw strikes and play great deep to give yourself a chance. And I feel like we'll do a better job of that this year.

Well, a big part of that is going to be Justin Parker, the big addition to your staff. A guy who had a pretty good job. He's over at South Carolina. That's an SEC school. That's a top job. No pun intended here, Coach. But what was your pitch to him to bring him to Mississippi State? Well, I think as I went through it, one, it's Mississippi State.
