We have a major new action by the Supreme Court having to do with redistricting coming,

0:04.7

of course, at a time where we see Texas trying to have a blatant power grab, trying to

0:10.0

redistrict in order to gain more seats in time for the 2026 midterms.

0:14.6

I'm going to get into what exactly is happening.

0:17.6

It is possible that the Supreme Court may try to dismantle Section 2 of the Voting Rights

0:23.8

Act. My name is Dina Dahl with the Midas Touch Network. Let's get into this. So those of you who

0:29.1

follow unprecedented, the Supreme Court focus show I do with Michael Popock, you heard us break down

1:29.6

only one majority black district, despite the fact that the black voters constituted one

1:35.3

third of the voters there. So they failed. Several rights groups sued them and said,

1:41.2

this is violation of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, Louisiana lost in court,

1:46.9

and they then had a second majority black district. But after the second one was drawn,

1:54.3

they were sued by white voters saying that this was a violation of the 14th and 15th amendments of the Constitution.

2:03.8

The Supreme Court decided to take this case despite the fact that they had already just taken

2:09.4

the case regarding Alabama in 2023, the Milligan case.
