0:05.3	Attorney General Ken Paxton, filed an emergency motion asking a court to jail Beto O'Rourke
0:12.5	because of his fundraising activities, his and his organization, powered by the people.

0:22.6	the state in order to break quorum in order to stop the blatant redistricting power crab that
0:29.6	Abbott is doing at the direction of dear leader Trump. Well, Paxton wants to shut this down because
0:36.7	better work, as we know, is a strong fighter for Democrats in Texas, and his organization is a big voter registration organization there as well.
0:46.4	My name is Dina Dahl with the Midas Touch Network. Let's break this down. So Paxton goes in and files this emergency motion, saying that Beto O'Rourke and powered by
0:56.7	the people violated a court's earlier temporary restraining order. So the earlier restraining order,
1:02.9	Ken Paxton went to court. He happened to find a friendly judge in that a judge who was a Republican
1:09.2	elected judge appointed by Abbott, who had gone along with his
1:15.8	argument and said that any payment by Beto O'Rourke are powered by the people to pay the travel
1:24.4	expenses of these Democrats who have left the state would be a violation of their
1:29.9	campaign finance laws because they are personal expenses and not political expenses.
1:34.8	And so the judge went ahead and issued this T.R.
1:38.4	wrote telling better work empowered by the people that you cannot fundraise for these personal expenses or pay for these
1:47.5	personal expenses. Now, I believe there's even a question of whether or not that is true.
1:53.2	You can argue that this is not a personal expense. It's not like they're going on vacation.
1:57.9	They're literally doing something in act of furthering what their constituents
2:03.6	want. Their constituents have been very vocal that they don't want this redistricting happen. This is the
2:09.2	only way to stop it. So you can make a very strong argument in court that this would be possible
2:16.1	to pay these expenses.
