Hello, my friends, and welcome

back to our second episode on Real Talk, parents and teenagers. Maybe we should have called this

series Real War, because sometimes when we're dealing with teenagers, it just feels like war. And teens, sometimes you feel

that way. Like my parents are against me and if I could just get them to understand me.

But there's hope. There is hope when there is proper biblical communication. And that's what I

want to talk to you about for the next 20 minutes or so. I want to

talk to you about just communication. How can moms and dads and teenagers be in a room, be calm,

talk, and actually accomplish something. It is possible and it doesn't take a miracle. It just takes a

commitment to some good Bible principles. So what we're going to do is give you five essential

truths about communication. Whether you're the parent or whether you're the teenager, I really

want you to listen. Now, what we did last week, we talked about authenticity,

that what a parent wants in a teenager is just be real.

I'm not expecting perfection.

And the same thing, by the way, parent, what your teen wants in you

is not a perfect dad or mom.

There's no such thing.

But just be real, be authentic.

Be willing to admit when you fail.

That's important as a leader.
