This is a series, I in the world, behind the black. I'm John Bachelor. Bob Zimmerman is here to update us on the sunspots. The member were supposedly climbing to a solar maximum.

How we doing Bob?

Yeah, this is a monthly report I give updating what Noah tells us each month.

The sun is as as usual it's been doing now for

almost 25 years it's just not doing what's predicted and so we hit a peak of

activity in the summer that was much higher than predicted.

And then the sun decided to go down.

And for the last five months, it has been at a high level,

but a much lower peak and it kind of looks like we're going to go through the same thing we did in the last solo maximum.

It's going to be a double peak maximum with like a saddle in the middle and we're in the saddle right now.

Now I'm predicting that.

I know about as much in the less than the solar scientists and they don't know very much

of themselves about this and so predictions here are very unreliable.

Nonetheless, and that's the bottom line. That's really what we learn here, John.

We don't really understand the fundamentals of what causes the solar, the maximum cycle.

We know it has to do with the magnetic field of the sun

flipping its polarity every 11 years and in the process of doing that the

number of sunspots goes up and then goes down. But why the sunspots and what causes the flip in the magnetic field,

we really have no idea. And because of that, we really don't understand what we could make

some solar maximumimus highly active and others not so

active and we're just the sun keeps fooling us in these matters that's what's going on right now

now volcanoes on Mars and Bob has an image that's fascinating, but how old volcano, Bob, is this from the first billion years?
