Sudan has been troubled for years, torn in half by conflicts, by depredations, by the cartoon government.

Before that, it was in the hands of Al Qaeda for a while before Bin Laden moved to Afghanistan.

But now Sudan has collapsed to my understanding of order.

The headlines from London, Sudan latest news, first British evacuees arrive in Cyprus.

The first flight carrying British evacuees from Sudan landed in Cyprus with around 40 people on board.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said, quote, many more flights will take Britain's out of Sudan tonight and tomorrow.

The Cypriot Foreign Office said the first flight landed around 7pm.

This is UK time before us.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Prime Minister spoke's person said the first flight has left around 120 British military personnel

or at the airfield near Cartoum being used for the evacuation effort, according to the Defense Minister Ben Wallace.

Gregory, this begins to look like an evacuation out of Kabul.

And I'm sure we'll have much information in the days to come about how the embassies either miss this or wait too long.

These evacuations are taking place under the threat of genuine violence.

The collapse in Sudan is between two warlords, the one warlord, the paramilitary, the other warlord, the army.

But you have taught me over this last year, we're looking at the whole of the Nare River Valley, part of the collapse of order in Cartoum.

That the Sudanese government was prodded, provoked, manipulated by the Cairo government, having to do with its conflict with Ethiopia and the Grand Renaissance Dam.
