Summary

Talking all things strength, conditioning and college football with Tyler Owens. Tyler is The University of Arizona's Football Director of Strength and Conditioning. Owens joined the Wildcats from Alabama where was a part of five national championships as a strength coach and linebacker for the Crimson Tide.


Owens joined Coach Nick Saban's staff as assistant strength and conditioning coach prior to the 2015 season as Alabama won three national championships and four SEC titles while amassing an immaculate record of 79-6. During his time on the strength staff, Owens helped train 48 NFL draft picks and a pair of Heisman Trophy winners.

He played for and worked under longtime Alabama strength coach Scott Cochran who added him to the strength staff after graduating from Alabama. During his time with Cochran and current Crimson Tide head strength coach David Ballou, Owens was responsible for coaching, instruction and facilitation of training and assisting with the operation of the fourth quarter conditioning program among other duties.

Owens was a linebacker at Alabama from 2011 to 2014 as the Crimson Tide captured a pair of national championships and two SEC titles. The Nick Saban-led teams would post a record of 48-6 with Owens on the roster.
