Hello, as many of us understandably are focusing on the horrors which are enveloping Gaza right now,

there is another horror which is unfolding and that is in Sudan. This is a conflict which has been going for a very long time and has been largely forgotten and it's so important that we shine a light on exactly what's happening, not least when huge numbers of people are being killed as we speak as you listen to this.

And the world's attention needs, as well as to obviously talk about what's happening in Gaza. We need

desperately to talk about what's happening in Sudan. In that spirit I'm really

delighted to be joined by Dahlia Ademona who is a Sudanese political commentator.

Thank you for having me, Owen.

Just to begin with, can you just give a pracy basically of of what's been happening in

sedan because it as I think as you've been saying this is a forgotten conflict it

shouldn't be but it is so for those who just aren't aware of what's happening,

what is the kind of, how did we get to the point that now? Okay, I'll just go back a few years.

2019, we managed, we had a peaceful revolution, we overthrew the regime of Omarin-Bissir, the maestro behind the Darfur crisis back in 2003.

We had an interim civilian government which was overthrown in a

coup by the two leading military factions, the National Army and the militia, the rapid support forces, which are the Gen-Joueed who were responsible

for the massacres that were carried out in Darfur 20 years ago. They just had a rebranding, but they're still the same. And from the coup, we had, there were discussions to move into a political framework where civilian, you know we would return back to civilian government.
