Summary
Human Rights Watch have just done an in-depth report about how Meta is censoring pro-Palestinian voices on Facebook and Instagram. Here I show that I've been 'shadowbanned' on Facebook - and why this is part of a general attempt to silence the few pro-Palestinian voices with a mainstream platform.

| 0:00.0 | So I had a bit of a debate with myself about the wisdom of discussing this, but I believe that this is important, not least because I think there are wider issues at stake. |
| 0:08.0 | Now, I believe I'm being censored by Meta on Facebook over Palestine. Now normally I'll love with you. I've |
| 0:15.0 | been the last kind of person to indulge this kind of chat. Kind of roll my eyes when I |
| 0:18.8 | hear shadow batting. You often hear this sort of chat from let's say the more right-wing elements of our political conversation, |

| 0:43.0 | Have your posts about Palestine been removed from Instagram or Facebook? |
| 0:48.0 | Are your followers unable to engage with your content? |
| 0:51.0 | Meta is censoring Palestine-related content on Instagram and |
| 0:55.5 | Facebook. Some strong pro-Palestinian speech makes it through Meta-System, but a lot of |
| 1:02.0 | peaceful expression about Palestine has been wrongly restricted. |
| 1:06.4 | Social media users sent Human Rights Watch hundreds of examples of censorship they faced. |
| 1:11.4 | We reviewed over 1,000 cases involving the online censorship and |
| 1:15.4 | suppression of content in support of Palestine. In around 300 cases, users |
| 1:21.5 | were unable to appeal the restrictions, which means they didn't have access to remedy |
| 1:26.5 | and they couldn't get their content reinstated. Most of the censorship consisted of |
| 1:31.5 | removal of content, suspension of accounts, restrictions on features like |
| 1:36.5 | Instagram and Facebook Live and Shadow Banning, that is reducing the visibility of an |
| 1:42.3 | account or individual posts. |
