| 0:00.0 | Welcome to One Minute Scripter Study, a Come Follow Me podcast. |
| 0:05.0 | We are your host, Kristen Walker-Smith and Kelly Black. |
| 0:09.6 | Hey friend, it's Kristen. As an online content creator, I get to see the best and worst of people in the comment section of my Instagram. |
| 0:19.0 | Some people go out of their way to uplift and to be so kind. |
| 0:23.7 | Unfortunately, a few people use the comment section to try to tear others and the church down. |
| 0:28.6 | Now, while my natural reaction to these comments is frustration, I have made it my mission to be |
| 0:35.2 | kind in the face of contention. And now, it's often incredibly hard, but the Lord has commanded us in Doctrine and Covenants |
| 0:41.2 | 136, verse 23, cease to contend one with another. |
| 0:46.1 | Cease to speak evil, one of another. |
| 0:49.1 | Now that word cease is interesting. |
| 0:51.7 | It isn't a warning against not doing something we've never done. The word cease |
| 0:55.7 | means God knows we're doing it already. He's asking us to stop the contention that we're currently |
| 1:01.2 | engaged in. Now, while I do a great job of being peaceful online, I often have contentious |
| 1:06.6 | thoughts while reading negative comments. Even though no one else is negatively affected by those |
| 1:11.7 | thoughts, I certainly am. Let's consider today one way we can cease creating or contributing to |
| 1:19.0 | contention, whether it's online or out loud or even in our thoughts. Where might we be stirring |
| 1:24.3 | up trouble instead of creating peace? And then let's do what the Lord asked and stop it. |
| 1:29.6 | So the takeaway of the day in five words or less is, stop all contention. |
| 1:35.5 | Thanks so much for being here today and for coming closer to Christ with me one minute at a time. |
| 1:43.0 | Love this podcast? You're going to love this. Have you ever wished someone would visually |
| 1:48.1 | break down the storyline of the Doctrine and Covenants section by section? I've got you covered. |
| 1:53.0 | My YouTube channel brings the stories behind each section to life with fun, fast, animated |
