My name is Callie Black, here with all the context you need to totally rock this week's

Come Fall Me readings.

This week is November 24th through the 30th, and we are studying Doctrine and Covenants

sections 135 and 136. This feels like a big ending. If you listened two weeks ago, we studied

section 132, right?

Yeah, which would have been the final section chronologically that Joseph Smith received as a revelation.

And then last week, we went back in time to get sections 133 and 134 that are just out of place chronologically for reasons that I explained last week.

And then now we have section 135 and 136.

135 is the announcement of the martyrdom of the prophet Joseph Smith and his brother,

Hiram Smith. So this week is the week. We are studying the martyrdom. Let's dive into it.

Let's talk about what happened and kind of bridge

the gap from what happened what we were talking about two weeks ago. So to set the stage for

what was happening in Navu over the past year, because Section 132 was received in navu in July of 1843.

The martyrdom happens in June of 1844, so about a year later.

So let's kind of go through what's been happening.

Political unrest with the neighbors had been stirring up again over the previous couple of years.

And by the end of 1843 and the beginning of 1844, there were some of the biggest
