Do you ever have a time where you're praying with your child and it just feels awkward?

It's like I keep saying the same thing over and over again or, Dolly, I want to start differently and maybe I'll ask them to pray. Boy, if you're asking questions like that, we all struggle. So welcome to the show. I'm John Fuller with Dr. Danny Werta, who heads up the focus on the family parenting department. And Danny, you have a counseling practice.

You have spoken parents across the world. How have you seen moms and dads express concerns about

their prayer life and how to impart a love for prayer to our children? Yeah, there are many parents,

surprisingly, that struggle with self-confidence around this.

Am I praying the right words?

Am I doing it well so that my kids have a vibrant prayer life?

Some have said, I don't know how to even start, you know, especially ones that have just become Christians later in life.

And really what I respond with is this is a conversation that you are having with this heavenly

father, this being, this person, right, in your life that you want to have an ongoing

dialogue with all day long.

So pretend you're talking to

someone in front of you that you love tremendously and can provide for you. You depend fully on

them. You're serving for them. And then the words will naturally come because it's a relational

prayer. You're whining to teach your kids this relational conversation and there's

no perfect prayer. If you want to start somewhere, the Lord's Prayer is a fantastic one to just
