So if you've listened to the podcast for a while,'ll know I used to grow and sell micro greens to some of the higher end restaurants here in San Diego and that started as a complete whim just hey these micro greens look pretty I wonder if a chef would buy them and then it turns out that they did and so a business was born at least for about a year or so

but plant nurseries is one that that I haven't explored and I've thought about it and I've kind of rolled it around in my head and I figured why not talk to someone who's actually done it.

So David, you've started your own plant nursery before and you've got a lot to share on this.

So you mind just kind of like telling us a story of how that began?

Sure, yeah, actually I started when I was a kid.

I was like 11 and I would propagate plants because I was always like a gardening geek from the time I was about 6 and I first discovered gardening.

And so I have a picture in this. I just wrote the book,

in your spare time which sounds kind of awesome because it is and so there's a

picture of me at the beginning of the book and I'm sitting by the road at a

picnic table in front of my parents house and I've got five

of my younger siblings with me, my brother and four sisters and we're all sitting out there

and I've got a sign that says plants and there's all these plants lined up in there and I you know I remember just going and getting cuttings from people putting them in pots and starting them

But what I didn't realize back then was that of course everything I was doing was illegal. You know, I mean like you can't sell plants without a license and this and that and you have blah blah blah. So you know I kind of I did other stuff I worked for like a nonprofit and I wrote

radio broadcasts and I did all these things the whole time I was always gardening and I

remembered enjoying doing the nursery thing but I always thought it was kind of like

going to be too much of a pain regulatory wise and stuff and I didn't really want to get
