Today we are continuing on with our series with Michael Bell. This is part 205 and here we're just sort of talking about how he got started on the farm

What he did to get that thing off the ground because I know a lot of people have trouble with that they they want to farm and they think oh oh, I don't know what to do, how do I get land,

how do I prepare the land, how much money will it cost? All these sorts of questions. So that is what we get

into on this episode. It's pretty fascinating. he has some unique techniques that he's

modified to be even lower cost some pretty ingenious stuff so let's get into it

without further ado. Cool yeah let's um let's talk about that then so do. going what is your sort of style of farming on that property?

Yeah, well when I first started, I promised my wife

when I did this that I wouldn't take any of our money like none of our savings you know none of my

checks you know that none of our checks that we used to pay bills we got three kids so you know

and we're both teachers so we don't have a ton. You still there?

Yes, I'm sorry, I took a phone call, I apologize for that.

Someone called. so I promised

her from the beginning I would not use any of our money so I told her

anything that I need to buy I'll make the money first from the farm and then I'll buy it using that money that I make from the farm.

So I literally started off taking my wheat eater and an axe to my property because the property that I bought hadn't been touched in 10 years.

The guy that bought it had a heart attack and he couldn't work it.

So I had six foot Johnson grass growing everywhere.

I had eight foot oak trees that were about to get

too big to cut down with an axe and you know I bought it in April and Easter

weekend was three days later after I bought it. I spent the whole three days out there

with a weed eater and an axe and I mowed and weeded and cleared as much as I could and then I found
