Rufo represents a relatively respectable corner of the right at this point. I mean, he's a Manhattan Institute fellow.

And they're involved in this kind of internecine struggle with Fuentes and other people to their right.

And the main different issues are Israel and anti-Semitism and kind of open embrace of biological racism, consuming

the right. But there's an irony, of course, which is Rufo himself obviously has been a shameless

spreader of lies and propaganda that are battenly racist, like what he said about the Haitians in Ohio

and trying to connect, you know, the Somali fraud situation in Minnesota to funding of terrorism.

There's no evidence of that. Even Trump's DOJ. They said, like, we don't see anything about that.

This is a fraud investigation. And he's also just been constantly tweeting horrible things about

Somalis that are racist, you know, saying they have low IQs and they're a drag on the United States.

And then he just seems to have this total lack of ability to see that he's doing the same thing

in a different way. And he's been doing that for a while. But it's interesting in a way,

like observing Rufo in this moment and seeing this double game he's been doing that for a while. But it's interesting in a way, like,

observing Rufo in this moment and seeing this double game he's playing, where he's like

encouraging extreme behavior and paranoid politics on the one hand, and then pretending

like he's a voice of reason, I mean, where have we seen that? That is William F. Buckley's role.

You know, this person who played this role as a serious intellectual and as a kind of genteel and courtly figure who was able to speak to

liberals and engaged in civic discourse was also kind of like, you know, log rolling for the extreme

right and injecting very toxic ideas through his magazine. And this goes back even before the

National Review to McCarthy and then their struggles trying to distance themselves unsuccessfully

from the birchers. And it goes all the way up through Pat Buchanan, the anti-Semitism controversy,

up through Trump and the unsuccessful attempts to fight off Trump and then just kind of, you know,

going V-She for Trump
